my 15 year old dog's coat has been getting much thinner, I wonder if my parents need to change his diet or if this is just normal for such an old guy....

I think it's normal. They start to gray, also, especially around their snouts. Teeth even can get loose. Signs of aging are much like ours. I wonder if there are male baldness patterns, like our men!(LOL)
