It sounds EXACTLT like a rescued dog I took in 12 yrs. ago.

I still don't know her breed mix,.. but am certain she's 1/2 Chihauhua (a Chihauhua rescuer validated).

My Holly is about 13 now and she's Chi size, greyish mottley wirey coat,... a funny little character,... actually at 1st glance when she was younger, some thought she was a cat!

I wish I knew how to put a picture on here,...like I've seen others do,... but don't know how.

I got Holly's pics in my computer files, but am rather computer illiterate at more complicated procedures.

There are not too many small wire haired, gray breeds. So, I'm thinking perhaps miniature schnauzer.

sounds like terrior cross.take it to the vet for a full check and see if you can get discount desexing and microchipping from a shelter or animal welfare league.bless you.check ask 1st that no-one has lost reported it missing,so you dont get too attached.bless you.and goodluck.

could be a wire haired terrier cross. Their wirey hair is rough feeling + not soft at all, altho they can be the perfect pet.
