You need to treat monthly, and you need to make sure it gets on the skin.

It may not be from fleas. Take the cat to the vet - if it is fleas, he could use a steroid shot to help the discomfort. If it isn't fleas, you need to find out what it IS before you know what to treat with.

Hot spots?

I don't know, my dog does the same thing...

We are going threw this with one our cats. She is pulling her fur out. The Vet, and we think she is depressed. Something may have changed in its life. Nerves may cause this also. Not to say it isn't flea's, but there are other causes. Get a good flea comb, comb her/him, and watch for fleas in the comb. Put very warm water on the comb, and they will stay on the comb longer. They had a very good story on just this in 'catfanncy' magazine a couple months ago. Go to catchannel.com, and you should be able to get more info on this. It may get worse. Good luck.
