Is my dog's collar too loose if it seems to be rubbing the hair off his chest and only his ches

When the collar is put on properly you should be able to fit only the highth of two fingers extended, one on top of another...(the sides of your fingers, like pointing) between the collar and the back of the neck.

Yes - can I recommend that you change to a lighter ROUND

nylon collar please. Imagine what that woulod feel like on you, something rubbing a sore spot in your skin. He might be scratching at it because it pulls the hair.

Have you ever had a shoe that rubbed a sore spot on your heel, remember how PAINFUL that felt and you couldnt WAIT to get that shoe off and how long it takes to be able to put anything near the blister til it healed? Eventually the hair wont grow back in that spot.

You may want to check with a vet and make sure your pooch does not have allergies. He may be itching quite a bit when you're not present thus the loss in hair.

Are there any tags on the collar? It could just be too heavy and is putting more pressure in that spot when it shifts.
