I'm thinking of adopting a dog (found her on petfinder). She's a mix breed. I don't want a dog that sheds (I currently have a min. poodle). My question is, when I go to meet this new dog, I'm going to run my hands over her to see if she sheds. She's only 5 months old. If she doesn't shed now, is there a chance she will as a full grown adult? Do puppies she more, less, or the same as adults? I just don't want to think I'm getting a no-shedder and end up with dog hair in a year!
Here's the dog I'm looking at...

The lady with the rescue group said she ran her hand over her and no hair... but like I said... I wonder if the amount of shedding will change with age.
Dog shedding changes??
Well, only pups that get bigger (like the mastiff or saint bernard, golden retriever ect.), tend to grow up shedding more then when they were a pup. This dog (I saw the picutes! VERY, VERY CUTE!), looks likes, that if she were to shed when she was older, she would be shedding now. Since she isn't going to get any bigger, how ever much that she sheds now, she is going to shed in the future. Remember, dogs (and other pets), only shed in the Summer time. To me, it looks like she doesn't shed. If she does, not that much!
I hope that this answers you question! I am so glad that you are adopting from www.petfinder.com! I love to see what new pets they have there each day! Good Luck on your adoption!
Dog shedding changes??
You asked this same question last night. You won't know for sure until the dog loses its puppy coat as an adolescent (usually 9-10 months of age) and develops its adult coat. Puppy coats don't shed as much so you can't tell with a mixed breed right now.
Dog shedding changes??
All dogs shed. You shed too.
The dog will shed quite a bit as she gets her adult coat. Shedding also has a lot to do with season and temperature. The dog will shed more in the spring than in the fall, etc.
Dog shedding changes??
There are only a few breeds that don't shed. Breeds like poodles and most terriers. I had a Norfolk terrier that didn't shed. Those breeds have more "human" like hair than they do fur. Most other breeds shed shed, some more than others.
The link didn't work so I was unable to view what kind of dog you are looking at.
