My dog is 11 years old and is losing her hair on her back and has an odor?
I would bring her to your veterinarian for a full blood panel and exam. I would ask your vet to specifically focus on testing for the following three conditions:
1) Cushing's Disease
2) Diabetes
3) Thyroid imbalances (hypo and hyper)
Good luck!

It sounds like your dog is on its last leg. Enjoy the time you have left with him.

Sounds like the symptoms of a crystal meth addict. Has she been running with a rough crowd?

Take her to the vet , there is a certain type of bath that will help... Forgive me I forget the name of it. also they may give it some ointment.

Loosing hair can be a sign of stress, stress that can be induced by illness. Your dog sounds like she has a fever too probably related to abscessed teeth. Take her to the vet. Why have you waited so long?
My dog is 11 years old and is losing her hair on her back and has an odor?
Sounds like she has a skin infection. she needs a trip to the vet for meds to get her skin back to normal. She may even have an underlying medical condition like hypothyroidism or allergies causing it. Your vet can help with that too.

hmm... have you tried consulting with a vet? There is NOTHING anyone can tell you except a GUESS without pictures, bloodwork, and/or some scientific background to understand the information provided. there are probably a MILLION things that could be going wrong here.

hello
i work for the RSPCA and i see this all the time in dogs at work...in a breed like yours its hard enough to keep the coat looking fresh and unmatted...
but it sounds to me like she may have a flea allergy or maybe mites...
take her to your vet and get her checked out and this can resort to being bauld on there back and tail if not treated and will end up havin to shave her all over ...
hope she gets better x

My dog is 11 years old and is losing her hair on her back and has an odor?
Could be a number of things, they could be serious or not of consequence.
Have the vet check it out, it may be just a "hot spot" that is cured with some cortisone, or it could be something serious.
Most often it is just allergies or something simple.
My dog is 11 years old and is losing her hair on her back and has an odor?
awww, I'm SO sorry to hear that. Do you feed her canned or dry food? If dry food that could be the main problem. I suggest trying canned food for about a month, and if you see any changes, great, if not, you NEED to her to a vet. She can't go through that for too much longer, especially at her age. Take some action quick, let me know what happens... I really hope this helps.

Don't listen to anyone who tells you it's time to put your pet down. They have no idea what her quality of life is and they have no business making that decision for you. They should be ashamed of themselves!!!!
In regards to your problem, it sounds to me like she may have hypothyroidism. My schnoodle was diagnosed with this when she was 6 years old. The top of her little bum became bald and the skin turned dark gray. She also became heat seeking where she would try to lay in front of the furnace vents or a sunny spot. This condition is usually very treatable. We put Penny on medication and she lived another 5 years.
Small breeds usually have a longer life span than bigger dogs so this is probably a condition that is treatable. Just make an appointment with your veterinarian and ask them to run a thyroid test on her.
Hypothryoidism can make dogs very lazy and lethargic but once their hormones are balanced their behavior will usually go back to normal. Good luck and give your sweetie a kiss for me!
