Good midsize dog less than 40 pounds?

Hello, ive had a Jack Russel for the past 10 years, I love it but i had to keep it with my little brother who loves it.. anyhow i wanna get myself a dog now that i live with some roommates. i wanted to buy another pure jack Russel, but im afraid that it will start shedding crazy like my old dog. I love the Look that the jack russel has and i dislike dogs that have long hair. any recommendations?

Wire haired jack russell, it's not long at all and doesn't require grooming, doesn't shed, unlike my smooth coat jack russell who sheds nonstop.

I would stay with Jack Russels if you really like them so much. There are so many different kinds of Jack Russels and many of them do not shed like the long haired ones. I have a short haired JR and he doesn't shed at all. I have heard that they sometimes can be hard to come by but I would definitly go with that. If not, theres so many other breeds out there that are good to. Good Luck!!!!

Wire hair fox terrier. Similar size and disposition to a Jack Russell, but a little sweeter. Super smart and low shed factor. They do need a little trimming, but if you buy a stripper comb you can keep them groomed up yourself easy.

go to your local shelter and adopt a dog! My border collie and my beagle, shephard mix are both from shelters and are amazing dogs!

Bichons are nice medium size dogs and so are shis but they have longer hair. They are also non-shedding.
