The hair on my dogs back has been falling out.?

His back is really red and sore. Ive put vaseline on it to keep the rail out the open type wounds and bathed him with my head and shoulders shampoo every other day but its not getting any better. Is there any other product I can try?

The hair on my dogs back has been falling out.?

No, I guess it's not getting better! You're making it much worse by bathing this poor dog every other day and even worse - using your shampoo on him! You never use human shampoo on a dog and you absolutely don't bath a dog this often!

Get him to the vet - there's no need for this dog to be in pain any longer!

Oatmeal shampoo, you really need to see a vet, it may need medication

take the dog to a vet, hair loss in animals can be caused be a serious mange infection.

open wounds, redness are also indications of mange.

Do not use vaseline on any open wounds, it contains petroleum and can cause infection

Head and shoulders??!! First of all dont use human shampoo on animals. What your dog has it can be cause by many things , it could be a severe allergic reaction, it could be fl;ea allergies, or it can be skin mites, or it can be some type of fungus. You need to take your dog to the vet that poor dog must be suffering

Bathing him too often could make the problem worse, so stop doing that. You really ought to get to the vet. My dog had this problem on his tail, and it turned out to be a skin infection that required antibiotics. Also, don't use Vaseline, that dries skin out. Instead, go pick up a topical medicine for dogs, they're quite cheap at Wal-Mart, Petco, etc.

You should find the "cause" first.

If you're sure it's not fleas, then perhaps allergic reaction to foods or?

If vet checked out and ruled out thyroid problems and other things that may produce skin/fur eruptions, then shampoo dog (not often) with mild baby shampoo and you can use any zinc ointment with lanolin in it,.. or vet may prescribed a steroid ointment.

Hope this helps.

First, e-mail address; everydaysolutionsrx.com and try the ointment it worked for my dog and read up on red-mange, It's not any more expensive than taking your dog to a vet and given him allergy shots which most likely the vet will want to do, or shaving the dogs coat, just apply it on the spots that are showing and get the shampoo also it will help cool the spots and heal the pores to grow new hair, Good-luck

Before you try anymore products, get a diagnosis from vet. It could be bacterial, parasitic, fungal, or allergies. Just too many options to continue to using treatments that could be just making it worse.

First you are bathing him tooooo much... 2nd DO NOT USE HUMAN PRODUCTS ON DOGS!!! Vaseline will do nothing... if anything try bag balm. Ask you self the following... When did the symptoms develop? Before or after i started using very harsh human shampoo on him? Did I change his diet? Has he been exposed to chemicals? Dose/ did he have fleas? and if you don't want to take him to the vet call a feed store ( large animal food like hay and grain) ask them if they carry something for "hot spots" on dogs?... You can try that just careful no mater what you try!!!

Is there any particular reason why you haven't taken this dog to the vet? Because he needs one.

And the other posters are correct. Human products were never meant to be used on dogs, and could have a very dangerous effect.

So I guess the answer to your question is "Go to the vet"!
