Anyone else's lab (or other dog) trail water all over the floor & shed excessively?

I guess I just need to vent. I love my 2 labs -- we have a yellow %26amp; a chocolate, but BOY do they shed! I feel like everyday I have to sweep up the entire house or "tumbleweeds" of hair end up everywhere. And since we have both colors, you can see the hair on everything. Also, our chocolate lab is so messy when she drinks her water -- she gets it in her mouth, holds it in there, and then trails it all over the house, so we end up with sticky wet feet with dog hair all over it! lol. I guess I'm just asking if any of you ever have these experiences with your labs %26amp; if you ever feel frustrated %26amp; like you can't keep up. Like I said, I love them like crazy and would never get rid of them, but now with a baby on the way, I feel my house will be a pig sty since I'll have less time to clean, clean, clean.

Any suggestions?

lovely dogs, labs!

Get a mop and clean it up is your best bet! lol

About the shedding, you are not alone! However, the dogs are now getting their summer coats in, so the shedding is going to be excessive. Thank God for the vacuum cleaner! :)

I don't have a problem with my dog and the water. She does, however, drag her food into the other room and drop it on the carpet. All I can suggest is keep a towel handy and wipe up after them (which I'm sure you already do!) Maybe invest in a Swiffer WetJet, which is easier than regular mopping in that it's all-in-one.

Good luck, and congrats on the baby! Labs make wonderful family pets!

ALL dogs shed....all dogs drool %26amp; vomit %26amp; piss %26amp; bark %26amp; fart %26amp;...

ALL dog owners must deal w/it...unless they have servants who do it for them.

Just think.,you soon have a bunch of human crap to "clean clean clean" too!!.

I have Saint Bernards, lets talk water, drool and hair. If there were a market for this stuff I'd be a multi millionaire. I also have a Lab and trust me three Saints can out do a dozen Labs when it comes to dripping water EVERYWHERE when they drink. lol cause it could be worse.

My black lab jimmy is just the same. The hair situation is relentless but i always give him a good grooming in the morning but apparently dogs shed hair all year round now due to houses being central heated!!!!!!.

Since I have 7 dogs their water bowl stays outside so they do not carry water all over the house. I also brush my big dogs when they come in but before they come in the house and wipe them down with a wet/damp small towel every day.

Brush them more often, that helps...

and unless you teach them to wipe their mouths after drinking, it is going to happen...move their bowls into laundry room or some place that is away from everyone including the baby when it starts to crawl...they love to play in water!

Haha, yes, my dog's aren't labs, but they do shed! My Australian Shepherd splashes water all over the place when he drinks and if drips off off his face all over the house!

Good luck with the dogs and the baby!!

Can you try brushing them once a day outside? That might be the bulk of the hair out so it doesn't get everywhere inside.

I've seen special bowls that are designed to reduce the amount of water that gets on the face. Maybe this will help? Might be a gimmick though...

Also consider trying a big, upside water bottle that hooks to the side of a crate. The kind hampsters use. A lot of people with small/medium size dogs use them and it makes things a lot cleaner. Not sure if it would work with big dogs though. Maybe try for a little while?
