They are about the size of a dime and are a few inches apart from eachother. I worked in a vet office for 2 years and never seen this before. They are very deep red almost purple. Feels like bites because there is a tougher tissue underneath. But I see no sign of entry. They look to small to be hot spots? She is a med dog Australian Shephard mixed short hair about 50lbs. 4 yrs old.

Sounds like when my dog got into some kind of hornet nest that was in the ground rather than a tree etc. The belly, yup, that's where they got her, bad! Good thing, they are more like bits than stings, so no bad reaction. Poor baby!
