She is a pit terrier mix and has the short, coarse hair of a pit bull. The past couple of weeks she has been shedding so much. I'm not normally allergic to dog hair, but it's been making my allergies pretty bad. It's all over the house and on my bed. I bathe her on a weekly basis and purchased a firm brush and a shedding tool to help with the hair loss. She is on a proper diet, is healthy, and up to date on all her shots. So far, nothing has really worked. It's only getting worse and I'm incredibly frustrated!! What should I do?

nothing? They need to shed, nothing you can really do. I guess brush his hair outside and i guess you could use some nature's mircale dander remover and deoderizer. You can purchase it for 6-8 dollars. It works very good and keeps my dog smelling fresh.

Get the Zoom Groom. It's made by Kong and it does a great job on short haired breeds. I got enough off of my Doberman to knit a sweater!!!! It keeps all the hair from coming off in your house, and they actually like it. If she's healthy and there is no health issues, then it is just a grooming issue. Some dogs shed more at certain times of the year, or even f they are stressed. So just brush her really good with the Zoom Groom. It was about $8 at Petsmart.

Don't be so lazy - brush her at least once a day to get out all the dead hair. There's no such thing as "stopping" shedding as it's something their bodies normally do. Brushes don't really do much for removing dead hairs - on dogs or cats. Get a steel comb which will remove the loose dead hair MUCH more effectively.

FYI - dog and cat HAIR isn't what people are allergic to - it's the dander. Get your dog a good conditioning shampoo and add some salmon oil to her diet. There's also stuff you can get called "Allerpet" to put on your dog that will help with the dander as well.
