Guide Dog charges?

What are your thoughts on accommodation places charging extra for cleaning cost if the room is used by a blind person and their guide dog. The extra cleaning was requested as they said the dog must have been molting and there was excess dog hair on the carpet.

Guide Dog charges?

Actually I can understand their point. The charge is not because the person is blind, but because they had a dog in the room, albeit a service dog. As long as they charge ALL dog owners the same service fee it is probably legal. If the dog does shed then they would probably need to take extra steps in cleaning, especially because the next guest might be allergic.

Guide Dog charges?

I think this would be classed as discrimination, i can see their point about needing more cleaning but someone should not be stopped from using any services or charged more because the need a dog to see for them and i think there are laws to stop this kind of thing happening.

What country you in?

Guide Dog charges?

hmmmmmm. sounds like discrimination

do not let them get away with this

a guide dog is used out of neccesity, and I do not believe they can do that, definately get a hold of a lawyer.....even for moral issues.

Guide Dog charges?

Look into the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Service dogs are not considered "PETS". They are working dogs - the same as a Police dog etc. No one can prevent that dog from going anywhere and they cannot charge extra (I believe) for the dog being around....

I'd consult a lawyer.

BTW - Dogs do not molt. They shed. Tell that to the idiots who are trying to take advantage of this person and their dog.

I'd also contact the press. =)
