Why do people go with a dog to the children's playground?

Some time ago, I kicked a 60lbs rottweiler 12 feet through the air, because he tried to jump my 2 year old son. It was on a playground and the dog was without a leash. Maybe he just wanted to play, I really didn't want to find out. I am usually super peacefull, but when I see somebody coming with a dog to the playground, the hair stands up in my neck. What is with this dog owners?

Pets should always be kept on a leash in public. There are plenty of dog parks for them to run freely.

You don't know what the dog is like and even if it's a good dog, kids are kids and might pull on it or take food from it or somehow provoke the situation to make it bite them! You have to protect your kid!

Interestingly enough, a week ago I had an opposite problem. I was at the dog park and some little bastard kicked my dog! He was probably no more than 2, but still?!?!

So, yeah.... dogs belong in dog parks, not kids. Kids belong on playgrounds, not dogs and owners and parents better learn to control your kids and pets!!

I can place a piece of steak on my dogs nose and she will not move until I tell her. she is very well trained but if I do this and my son falls on her and hurts her, the dogs reaction may be --she is under attack--and will respond accordingly. pet owners need to follow the law and keep all pets on a leash not just for other peoples protection but for the pets as well. also it saves on their pocketbook if something does happen.
